First, the police written test – which tests an applicant’s ability at math, memory, reading comprehension, incident report writing, and situational awareness. Second, candidates must take a fitness exam – testing endurance, upper body strength, and mobility. Finally, candidates take an oral board exam. Success at all three parts of the San Francisco police test means the highest scoring applicants will make it through to the local police academy.
