Pennsylvania state troopers (PST) is the largest police force of the state and one of the oldest state police agencies in the U.S. Formed on 2nd May, 1905, PSP has been acting as the state-wide law enforcement agency in Pennsylvania. It is a full-time law enforcement agency which enforces both criminal and traffic laws. It was formed 116 years ago by the order of Gov. Samuel Penny packer. The current police chief of PSP is Colonel Robert Evan chick, who commands a total staff of more than 2000 members, including- over 1000 civilians and more than 1000 troopers, out of which 5% is female staff. Pennsylvania state troopers agency owns 90 stations, 8 Bell 407GX helicopters, 6 high wings helicopters which contribute a major part in patrolling services throughout the state. In 1924, PSP started its own training academy for cadets that offer a rigorous 28-week training program for professional troopers training and skill development. Its aviation section consists of 35 trooper pilots 3 full-time mechanics.
