Fort Collins police department has 214 sworn officers and 115 civilian employees, serving a population of 170,300. The Fort Collins Police Services has SWAT, motorcycle, and canine units. Department also provides 9 police officers they provide security to 34 schools in the area.

To succeed at the Fort Collins police department test, candidates must take three different kinds of exam. First, the police written test – which tests an applicant’s ability at math, memory, reading comprehension, incident report writing, and situational awareness. Second, candidates must take a fitness exam – testing endurance, upper body strength, and mobility. Finally, candidates take an oral board exam. Success at all three parts of the Fort Collins police test means the highest scoring applicants will make it through to the local police academy.
