Elk Grove Police Department was formed on 28 October 2006, which is currently led by the Chief of Police, Timothy Albright. The police department is located at:

8400 Laguna Palms Way,

Elk Grove

CA 95758

In the very beginning, the department consisted of a staff limited to just 18 employees, Chief of Police, and dispatchers. The department is currently served by a total of 254 employees- including more than 146 sworn officers and 108 non-sworn civilian staff – which serve a total community of approximately 174,775 residents in an area of 42.20 square miles.

To succeed at the Elk Grove police department test, candidates must take three different kinds of exam. First, the police written test – which tests an applicant’s ability at math, memory, reading comprehension, incident report writing, and situational awareness. Second, candidates must take a fitness exam – testing endurance, upper body strength, and mobility. Finally, candidates take an oral board exam. Success at all three parts of the Elk Grove police test means the highest scoring applicants will make it through to the local police academy.
