Colorado State troopers is the official state police agency of Colorado, headquartered in Lakewood. Colorado State troopers (CST) is also known as Colorado state highway courtesy patrol and remains a division of Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS). The CSP was formally established on 23rd September 1935 to assist in the regulation of traffic laws throughout interstate and state highways. The agency has a workforce of 1,180 officers including approx. 800 sworn members and approx. 380 civilians, all of whom are lead by the chief of police, Colonel Matthew C. Packard.
Colorado State troopers has a total of 5 fixed-wing aircraft:

A special community program, named “Alive at 25” was introduced for traffic security. Alive at 25 aims to eliminate risky driving behavior from youth between the ages 14-25. Upholding the core values of honor, duty, and respect, the CSP has a mission to make sure that the local environment for citizens is safe by providing a wide range of law enforcement duties.
To join Colorado State troopers, candidates must take and pass the Colorado state troopers test which involves:
1. Written exam – math, spelling, grammar, communication, and reading comprehension skills
2. Background investigation – reviewing a candidate’s education, financial, criminal, and employment background
3. Polygraph examination – a standard lie detector test
4. Appointing authority structured application review board
5. Oral board interview – face to face interview that involves personal and dynamic oral board questions
6. Physical fitness – evaluating strength, endurance, and flexibility
