I failed the state police exam twice before and did not want to go through that experience again. The state police exam is tough and requires a lot of preparation. Using this course plus recommended books from Amazon got me over the line. Thank you!
I had to take the highway patrol exam but only had one month left of study time. That, along with my work, make things way too difficult. But given how structured the course is, along with practice questions, you quickly build-up the knowledge level needed to succeed at the exam.
The state police written exam is what I really sucked at. This course helped, a lot! Far more than outdated textbooks I was using. I can really recommend their practice exams, too – best experience yet to know if you are prepared! I would not have passed without this course; a must-have study tool!
I was taking the New York state trooper exam but had no focus on what and how to study. What’s useful is how structured the course is, and how you can work your way through it at your own pace and test your knowledge along the way. I would not have passed without this course, that’s for certain.
Wow! I was looking for a one-stop shop for all my police test needs and this is EXACTLY what I needed. I’ve tried other courses, but they have never lived up to expectations. This test prep guide, in contrast, contains everything (and more) to help guide your way through all aspects of the state trooper test.
The interview test is by far the most intimidating part of the state trooper test. To be prepared, you need to do your homework – not only yourself but also how to prepare for dynamic oral board problems that test your situational judgment. This course prepares you for exactly that. Thank you!
First formed on 14th August 1929, California Highway Patrol (CHP) has since become the largest state police agency in the United States. As of 2019, it has over 11,000 employees, including more than 7600 sworn officers and 3000 civilian members, CHP serves to protect state buildings and state officials. It works with the federal and municipal law enforcement agencies to assist in investigations, patrolling, and in other law enforcement duties. The agency is organized as a part of CalSTA (California State Transportation Agency).
It maintains a 24/7 stand-by SWAT team that responds to an emergency or terrorist actions. The agency has 9 field divisions, 16 commercial enforcement facilities, and 103 area offices. California Highway Patrol 11-99 foundation was formed in 1982 by a philanthropist, Bob Weinberg, to provide assistance to CHP employees.
CHP troopers are assigned to:
● Criminal investigative task forces
● Drug task forces
● Maintain highly trained warrant service teams (WST)
One of the most important tasks that CHP is assigned to includes governor protection. Moreover, it has several narcotic patrols and explosive detection K-9 teams all over the state.
The agency has a “Mexico Liaison Unit”, which is a border division unit in San Diego. The purpose of the Mexico unit is to develop positive working relations with the Mexican authorities since CHP has no direct authority in Mexico.
To join CHP, candidates must pass the California highway patrol test, which involves:
1. Complete the CHP employment application
2. Pass the CHP physical ability test
3. Pass the PELLETB written test (a test that emphasizes English language skills, including 15 questions on writing clarity, 15 spelling MCQs, 15 vocabulary MCQs, 20 reading comprehension MCQs and 40 questions on a CLOZE reading test)
4. Pass the CHP background investigation
5. Pass the CHP CVSA truth vitrifaction exam, the psych exam and medical exam
6. Complete 27 week of training
