With a total estimated population of 197,888 people in 2019, Augusta ranked as the 23rd biggest city in the country. The city served as the state’s capital from 1785-1795 and has various verifiably notable structures- including the cotton exchange, Ezekiel Harris House, George Walton Home, and Springfield Baptist Church, the most ancient African American Church in America.

To become a police officer at the department, candidates must take the complete Augusta police department test. This includes the police written exam. There are many different elements to the exam and the candidate must be well prepared for all aspects of the exam – which include everything from math to spelling-grammar to reading comprehension and memory.
